Ever since you left us

Ever since you left us,

I mourn the loss of everything.

Everything that was, and everything that will be.

Every smiling child,

Whose face one day will mould and cake.

Every warm bright day,

That too shall darken and flake.

Every blooming flower,

Whose beauty will whither to the ground.

Every loving word,

That will be a forgotten sound.

And yet I am reminded,

Of everything that was, and everything that will be.

Every overlooked youth,

Who finds the strength to overcome.

Every cool night,

That offers respite from the sun.

Every rushing storm,

That shall a growing field unfold.

Every agonizing loss,

That shall one day be consoled.

Ever since you left us.
