Yesterday’s Dance

I dance in a trance
As my little feet glance.
I pray that I’ll stay
Forever this way.

I lift like a swift
And thank God for this gift.
I hope that I’ll cope
Should my wings be roped.

I play as I sway
In the warm glow of day.
I fight with my might
That I won’t lose my flight.

I soar and I roar
And fly across the floor.
I trip and I slip
As my mind loses grip.

Always breathing tomorrow’s air,
My rhythm smothered in today’s fear.
Worry worry about being bare,
Tomorrow came early, and yesterday’s there.
